Business Delegation Visits Gwinnett-Based SELF Electronics HQ in Ningbo, China
LED lighting company recently expanded operations in the City of Peachtree Corners
(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) August 31, 2015 – A Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development-led delegation visited the headquarters of Chinese LED lighting company, SELF Electronics in Ningbo, China. The delegation is on a twelve-day business mission trip to explore trade and export opportunities, recruit direct foreign investment and build relationships in the region.
The visit to Ningbo comes on the heels of SELF Electronics USA’s expansion in May to a 28,000-square-foot Peachtree Corners facility in Gwinnett County.
“We chose Georgia and Gwinnett County to build and expand our U.S. operations for several reasons,” said Vivian Wang, President of SELF Electronics USA. “North America has a large market for our LED products, and this community occupies an important geographical location with convenient transportation for us to strengthen our competitiveness in U.S. and global markets. We have experienced significant growth and outstanding support from this progressive community and appreciate the partnership.”
SELF Electronics USA’s facility is located at 3264 Saturn Ct. and currently houses 10 employees, a distribution warehouse, technical support and a showroom. The company’s expansion project, expected to supply more product lines and provide higher service levels to customers, was a collaborative effort between the Georgia Department of Economic Development and Gwinnet Chamber Economic Development.
Company executives in Ningbo were given a proclamation from the County, presented by Gwinnett County Commissioner Jace Brooks.
“Companies like SELF Electronics prove the value of international business missions,” said Gwinnett County Commissioner Jace Brooks.” Through our continued focus on economic development and these business missions, we are able to work with quality organizations like SELF to bring job opportunities to Gwinnett citizens and showcase to the world what a great location Gwinnett County is for business.”
Members of the delegation include: Jace Brooks (Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners), Bucky Johnson (Mayor, City of Norcross), Nick Masino (Sr. Vice President, Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development), and Andrew Carnes (Director of Economic Development, Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development).
“We are able to attract growing Chinese companies because we have everything they need: a community with exceptional resources, located in the heart of the nation’s fastest-growing region, a low cost of doing business and access to the world through our international airport,” said Nick Masino, Senior Vice President, Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development. “We will continue to support direct foreign investment in China and promote our community to the world in order to stay competitive in today’s global economy.”
SELF Electronics USA represents one of several global announcements made in Gwinnett County in the past 18 months. Gwinnett is home to more than 600 international companies and more than a dozen China-based companies.
