Gwinnett County, Metro Atlanta Ranks in Top Ten on CNN Money Magazine’s ‘Where the Jobs Are’ List
Community recognized as a best place to live and work in nation
(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) August 14, 2013 – CNN Money Magazine has named Gwinnett County, metro Atlanta, Georgia, on its ‘Where the jobs are’ list. The ranking places Gwinnett ninth on a national list of the top 25 counties where prospects for employment are promising.
“We are excited that Gwinnett County has been recognized as an excellent place to live and work with this national listing,” stated Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charlotte Nash. “This is a testament to our community’s success in building a great place to live and work and then aggressively marketing ourselves to encourage jobs creation and business investment in Gwinnett. Congratulations to the many organizations and individuals who helped in this effort and to Partnership Gwinnett for bringing them together!”
The listing points to the recent expansions of Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating and Primerica, Inc. as two firms growing in the community. Mitsubishi Electric celebrated the opening of its division headquarters in April 2013, while Primerica opened the doors of its global headquarters in May.
“Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division has called Gwinnett County home since 1992. As we’ve grown considerably over the past two decades, we have chosen to keep our base here in Gwinnett County because of the business-friendly environment that has allowed our Division to prosper,” stated Shuji Morisaki, senior vice president and general manager for Mitsubishi Electric US Cooling & Heating Division.

The County offers such a business-friendly environment and they’ve made it an easy and wonderful decision to locate our international headquarters here,” commented John Addison, Chairman of Primerica Distribution and Co-Chief Executive Officer. “Gwinnett’s a great place to do business!”
In addition, the recent announcement that National DCP will open a corporate office in the area and create 125 full-time administrative positions was included in the magazine’s assessment.

The County was also recognized for its role as a global leader, home to companies from Japan, Korea, China, and Germany, to name a few. Gwinnett’s proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport also played a part in the community’s inclusion.

Communities included in the listing were selected based upon data from the U.S. Census and Onboard Informatics. Columbia County, GA was recognized as the number one community in the nation, followed by Rockwall County, TX and Falls Church, VA, respectively.
