Swedish-based medical device company adds 24,000 square feet and invests close to $1 million

(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) October 29, 2014 – Mölnlycke Health Care, a market leader in the development and manufacturing of professional healthcare, wound care and surgical brands, joined a Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development delegation from its global headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden to announce the expansion of its North America region headquarter operations in Gwinnett County, Metro Atlanta, Georgia. The announcement represents a nearly $1 million capital investment for the community.

This announcement comes while representatives from both Gwinnett County and Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development are visiting Europe, participating in an international business mission. While there, the delegation visited Mölnlycke’s headquarters in Gothenberg, Sweden.

Mölnlycke’s 24,000 square foot expansion, located at 5500 Peachtree Parkway, in the City of Peachtree Corners, will house sales leadership, marketing, IT, finance and a number of other back office support roles. The company made the strategic decision to invest in its U.S. Commercial business, focusing on new business areas, which include over-the-counter/retail and post acute care products.

“Mölnlycke is constantly seeking new product innovations. The North American headquarter expansion reinforces our position as a global leader in advanced wound care,” said Rob Rayl, Vice President of U.S. Wound Care Sales. “The expansion will also bring further investment and new competencies to the local area, contributing to the economy here in Gwinnett and Peachtree Corners.”

Mölnlycke Health Care is committed to doubling sales over the next 6 years. This strategy will have a significant and positive impact on the North American headquarter operation headcount.

“Mölnlycke Health Care’s expansion is great news for the City of Peachtree Corners,” stated Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason. “Their ability to deliver innovation to the marketplace is a win for our community. We are proud of the company’s success.”

One of the most respected professional healthcare brands in the world, Mölnlycke is known for producing a unique, high quality range of products and innovative, patented technologies that allow patients to live better lives and help health care professionals efficiently treat more patients to better care. With over 7,400 employees across over 30 countries, the company is a leading health-care product manufacturer in the world.

“Gwinnett County is a leading life sciences hub in the Southeast,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairman Charlotte Nash. “This expansion is a testament to our dynamic workforce, pro business climate and innovation opportunities. We look forward to Mölnlycke’s continued growth.”

Mölnlycke was represented on this project by Jeff Kelley, Senior Vice President and Principal, of Colliers International Atlanta. “The new space provides an opportunity for Mölnlycke to continue to expand its U.S. headquarter operations and solidify its long term commitment to the Peachtree Corners submarket.”

In addition to its commitment to innovation, Mölnlycke has been recognized for its successful efforts to bring manufacturing to the U.S. Last year, the company opened a second manufacturing facility in Brunswick, Maine.

“Gwinnett County continues to be a strong draw for companies like Mölnlycke,” said Kellie Brownlow, Director of Economic Development for Gwinnett Chamber and Partnership Gwinnett. “It’s another proof point that our community has entered a new chapter in its economic history—one in which global brands see Gwinnett as a place where they can invest and grow.”
