Mobile technology company announces Gwinnett County as choice for headquarters location
October 1, 2012 – Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development, in partnership with Georgia Department of Economic Development, announced that Sports Challenge Network, LLC (SCN) has selected Gwinnett County, Georgia as the location of its new headquarters. The project, which has already resulted in the creation and fulfillment of 25 jobs, is anticipated to generate another 25 jobs over the next three years and represents a $5 million investment into the community. The company’s headquarters’ facility is located at 1862 Auburn Road, Suite 118 in Dacula.
A privately held company based in the metro Atlanta area and Silicon Valley, California, SCN specializes in creating new ways for people to connect and compete in recreational sports through social, mobile-based technology. Founded by serial entrepreneur and gaming executive Timothy J. Minard, SCN utilizes technology to broaden the appeal and playing opportunities within recreational sports and games, while building a deeper engagement and loyalty for players, sports and entertainment venue operators, sponsors and branded equipment manufacturers. To create and develop SCN, Minard assembled a team of industry-leading veterans with deep experience in sports, games, technology and digital content from Apple, ESPN, Microsoft, Google, Cisco and Motorola.

The announcement of Sport Challenge Network’s expansion to Gwinnett reinforces the efforts of the Gwinnett Chamber Economic Development department and its continual work to cultivate economic stability and growth in the community.

XBowling is SCN’s first social, mobile application that globally shares traditional bowling through a technologically mobile fashion. XBowling players can engage in head-to-head “live” bowling challenges with friends in other locations or simply play “on-demand,” allowing friends to compete in bowling at their convenience. XBowling also offers “solo” challenges, which can be customized for skill-building or fun. XBowlers earn points through gameplay, skill mastery, social interactions, profile building and leaderboard status, which can be redeemed online for experiences or merchandise.
