Winners of Partnership Gwinnett’s Annual Movers & Makers Awards Announced

RockTenn CEO, Steve Voorhees, delivers keynote address at awards ceremony

(GWINNETT- METRO ATLANTA) March 19, 2015 — Partnership Gwinnett, in collaboration with Gwinnett Technical College, announced the winners of its 4th Annual Movers & Makers Awards, presented by Jackson EMC during a ceremony held this morning at the Gwinnett Center.

The largest event of its kind in Georgia, the Movers & Makers Awards are the County’s annual recognition of exceptional Gwinnett-based companies involved in the manufacturing, processing, or distribution of tangible products.

“All of our Movers & Makers finalists demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their manufacturing and supply chain businesses,” said Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairman Charlotte Nash. “We were delighted to honor such a diverse representation of Gwinnett’s best companies at this event and applaud them for the important role they play in our community.”

In addition to the awards presentation, keynote speaker, Steve Voorhees, current CEO of RockTenn, shared industry highlights, including details of the future merger of Fortune 500 giants RockTenn and MeadWestvaco.

“We understand the vital importance of manufacturing and logistics to the success of a business,” stated Steve Voorhees, CEO of RockTenn. “I am pleased to help recognize these dynamic, innovative companies and celebrate the impact they are making to our local economy.”

The three manufacturing winners included:

  • Small Manufacturer of the Year Award Winner (1-49 employees): Winton Machine
  • Medium Manufacturer of the Year Award Winner (50-149 employees): PartnerTech
  • Large Manufacturer of the Year Award Winner (150+ employees): Nidec Elesys Americas

“We are honored to be the recipient of the 2015 Medium Manufacturer of the Year Award and grateful for the exposure it brings to our growing business,” said Gary Bruce, Managing Director at PartnerTech. “Since our expansion to Gwinnett County 15 years ago, the community has been a valued and supportive key to our success.”

The two supply chain winners included:

“Our supply chain management cooperative has saved Dunkin’ Brand franchisees $114 million over the past three years through the unique combination of sourcing, purchasing, distribution and business services we provide,” said Scott Carter, Chief Executive Officer for National DCP, LLC. “We are honored to be recognized as an industry pioneer among our esteemed peers in Gwinnett County.”

The Most Valuable Provider (MVP) Award recognized Hire Dynamics for its excellence in service to the manufacturing and supply chain sectors in Gwinnett County.

Companies were evaluated based upon criteria involving economic impact in the community, corporate responsibility, and workforce excellence programs.

“Now more than ever, manufacturers must accelerate and expand innovation, while continuing to embrace core principles of quality and operational excellence,” said Dr. Glen Cannon, President of Gwinnett Technical College. “To that end, Gwinnett Technical College remains committed to providing resources that will support this innovation and the economic development efforts of our community as a whole.”
